Statement concerning recent earthquakes in Venezuela

On 24 June 2026, 7.5 and 7.2 magnitude earthquakes struck Venezuela, causing widespread destruction and tragic loss of life.

Cultural Emergency Response (CER) expresses its heartfelt condolences to the people and communities affected by the earthquakes in Venezuela. Our thoughts are with all those impacted, including first responders providing urgent assistance.

As communities begin to recover, cultural heritage becomes an important source of refuge, identity, and hope.

We are looking to connect with local organisations and heritage professionals to help protect culture as part of the country's recovery.

Our cultural ambulance is available to help local partners document damage, protect collections and cultural spaces, and support communities in continuing their cultural practices. We're looking for local civil society organisations, heritage professionals, museums, archives, libraries, and community initiatives in Venezuela.
